Immanuel

Devotion 12.13.09
Matthew 1:23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son,
and they will call His name Immanuel, which is translated, 'God with
us.'"
Don't you love the Christmas season? Celebrating it the way God
intended us to, by praising the name of Jesus and remembering His
birth, not some fat guy in red!
I love what the name of Jesus, Immanuel, means: "God with us." Jesus
made it possible for God to be with us now in Spirit. He was born for
that Cause.
This Christmas season, think not only of and be greatful for the
purpose of which Jesus was born, think of why you yourself were born.
What does God have in mind for you? Has He purposes for you to be
Immanuel also?
In the Hebrew, the name Immanuel doesn't represent a specific title;
it represents a characterization: "God with us."
If you're a Christian, truly sold out, always allowing God to be
working in and through you, then you are Immanuel, just as Jesus was
and is!
It's who you and I have been destined to be!
