Mu-ah-ah-ah, Down With the Sickness. Not.

Devotional 12.1.09
Proverbs 18:21 "life and death are in the power of the tongue!" Matthew 9:22 "be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well!" 3 John 2 "beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your souls prosper."
Apparently, it's God's Will for us to be healthy. Why would He send Jesus, His son, to take the stripes on His back so that we could be healed of He didn't want us to live in health? (Isaiah 53:5). So why do we get sick sometimes? It's just like we allow sin to come into our lives, we allow sickness in as well. Not on purpose, though (hopefully), but by not continually applying faith and standing strong in our promised healing. (Proverbs 18:21) within our mouth lies the root of sickness a lot of the time. It's not that we're speaking sickness over ourselves (although that is the case many-a-time) it could just be our forgetfulness and laziness. We forget to speak God's promise of health over our lives and the lives of our loved ones each day. Or maybe we didn't forget, but we're just too tired to pray today and God knows what we want anyways so He'll take care of it! No, doesn't work that way. His Word tells us to bring our requests to God continually so that our faith and peace of knowing our prayers will be answered builds up inside of us (Phillipians 4:6-7). God's holding health before us, waiting for us to grab onto it, just as He is with forgiveness and with the fulfilled life that comes with living righteously. By we have to take the step of faith to grab onto His healing. Just like the woman with the issue of blood did (Matthew 9:22). She went running to Jesus because she had the level of faith that if she could get just oh-so close to Him, she would be healed. God wants us to have that kind of faith.
So all-in-all, it's the mixture of faith and the building up of faith through prayer and the speaking of healing over our lives that keeps us healthy, just as it is God's Will for is to be (3John2)! Even when sickness is here, let's not grow weary and feel like failures in faith or feed the sickness by way of our mouths; instead, let us keep building our faith up in Him, so that our recovery come quicker and God gets the glory, even in the eyes of the world. Be blessed!
