That's Attractive

Devotion 12.8.09
Proverbs 16:2 "Humans are satisfied with whatever LOOKS good; God
probes for what IS good." (MSG)
Humans are so obsessed with what's pleasing to our senses: pretty
things, good smelling things, whatever feels the softest, whatever
tastes the best, whatever is most enjoyable to listen to, you get the
picture.
God didn't create us this way! He created Adam and Eve without
clothing, it wasn't until sin came into play that our senses accounted
much for anything.
God made things that way on purpose. God would take strolls in the
Garden with Adam. And what for? To see if Adam had done something new
with his hair or was wearing a new clogne? No! God is deep, deeper
than we'll ever understand. No doubt, God probably discussed matters
of the heart with Adam: maybe something like what Adam decided to name
new animal and why; maybe He let Adam ask Him questions, like what the
next part of his purpose in life was!
That's the kind of relationship God wants with us. He doesn't care
about our new shoes or if we got a haircut or any of that. He wants to
have heart-to-hearts with us each day. He knows what we're thinking
about all the time, but He wants us to discuss those thoughts with Him
freely. He wants to know we trust Him. He wants to stroll with us. He
only cares about the things that are truly good, to us and to Him. He
wants us to feel the same way about Him. He wants us to worry less
about fixing our outsides up and more about fixing our heart up. Our
hearts attract Him to is. And if you think about it, His heart, who He
truly is, is what attracts us to Him. God isn't physically here, by
faith we are drawn to Him, what is truly good. So it's what we cannot
sense that intrigues us about God! 'Tis a great revelation, one He
wants us to apply in everyday life, not just when it comes to Him!
